Financial Rural Outreach Programme

Purpose

The mobile unit will enhance the brand awareness levels with respect to financial education and the regulator, thus responding to the feedback received from consumers regarding lack of visibility of regulation. Through the mobile unit, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator (OPFA) will reach out to consumers in the nine provinces. Consumers will be educated about the role of FSCA, savings, budgeting, their rights and responsibilities when buying financial products and the importance of dealing with licensed financial services providers and recourse options and the mandate of the OPFA.

Objectives

  • To reach out to consumers in rural areas;
  • Provide financial information to consumers in rural communities;
  • Promote financial inclusion;
  • Marketing financial education and the functions of the regulator;
  • Inform consumers in rural areas of their rights and responsibilities when dealing with financial services providers.
