Financial Literacy workshops for youth not in education, employment or training
The Financial Literacy workshops for youth not in education, employment or training (NEET) project aims to target a vulnerable demographic disproportionately affected by unemployment with limited access to financial education. Furthermore, the project seeks to foster financial resilience and entrepreneurial capability through structured and interactive learning.
The NEET workshops integrate face-to-face facilitation with digital tools, leveraging the FSCA’s MyMoney Learning Series content and partnerships with key stakeholders such as the National Empowerment Fund (NEF), the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), and other key stakeholders in the business start-up and management sector such as the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa.
The programme’s emphasis on entrepreneurship and money management aims to build foundational financial competencies, enhance self-employment prospects, and promote inclusion in the formal economy.
Project Aims:
-
to promote financial literacy amongst the youth.
-
to build financial resilience by empowering youth with financial tools to make informed decisions.
-
to engender meaningful transformation in the financial sector by developing the skills needed in the industry at youth level; and
-
to encourage entrepreneurship as a viable alternative to seeking jobs.
Project Objectives:
to reach youth NEET through substantive in-person financial literacy workshops;
to increase financial knowledge scores of participants by at least 10% as measured by standardised pre- and post- assessment tools;
to register at least 50% of participants on the FSCA’s Bazingabiz App. Bazingabiz App found on the app marketplaces for Android and iOS devices
